To select the proper size cupola for your home or building, the rule of thumb is 1.25 inches of cupola rooftop width for every foot of unbroken ridge. For example: if your roof section ridge measures 14 feet, the minimum cupola rooftop size should be 17.5 inches wide. An 18 inch cupola would be appropriate.
